Marjorie Calder

Marjorie studied at Emily Carr College of Art and Design, originally training as a painter and later focusing on photography. She went on to work with her mentors, over the years honing the skills she has today.

Aurora Photography was established in 1995 and grows each year evolving into the career Marjorie has always dreamed of.

Mainly specializing in portraiture, Marjorie has also been published in Spin Magazine, and various other publications from 1992 to present. Marjorie started her love of band and entertainment portraiture while working for Disinformation , a Vancouver entertainment magazine. Commercial, editorial and fashion are other styles she facilitates in her business.

Marjorie's passion for her job is evident in her work and she strives to learn new techniques and keep her art contemporary and fresh. Having owned a gallery showcasing fine art photography of herself and other local artists, she enjoys creating photo essays that are emotional and aethetically unique. Marjorie recently moved her studio to a newly restored Downtown office building in Nanaimo, British Columbia. The building was built at the turn of the last century and the age and beauty of the building is a new tool marjorie uses to acomplsh the painterly style in which she works.

Marjorie has a loving Husband, Stephen, and a delightful three year old, Marsom.Marjorie grew up in the charming town of Fort Langly and recently relocated the business to Nanaimo seven years ago.
